Providence, R.I. - February 12, 2023 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team turned its best score of the season, and highest dual-meet mark since 2020, as it competed at Brown University on Sunday. The Pride finished the day with a team score of 189.525, while the host Bears totaled a 194.325 to win the competition.
Springfield's team score was its highest since it turned in a 189.925 against Ithaca and Ursinus on February 9, 2020.
Springfield's best event score came on the floor as it combined for a 48.450, with Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.H.) leading the charge with a 9.800. Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.) added a career-best score of 9.750, MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) was credited with a 9.725, and Rae Anna Schutz (Mays Landing, N.J.) tied her career high with a 9.600 as the foursome finished inside the top 10 of the event.
On the vault, Springfield hit for a 47.650 as Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) finished sixth as an individual with a 9.675. Belog and Julia Reer (Cedar Grove, N.J.) each had career-best showings with 9.550's. MacLeod and Belog were impressive on the beam and were each credited with a 9.700 to lead the way for Springfield on an event where it totaled a 47.225. Schutz tied her season-best score with a 9.550 as well on the apparatus.
The Pride delivered its best score of the season on the uneven bars with a 46.200, which was highlighted by the efforts of Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.), who delivered a 9.600. Winter Osborne (Fairbanks, Alaska) closely followed with a 9.400 and Christina Wygonik (Wading River, N.Y.) rounded out the top three scorers for Springfield with a 9.100.
Springfield will now prepare for a dual at Cortland next Saturday at 1 pm.
