Cortland, N.Y. - February 18, 2023 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team bested SUNY Cortland on the road Saturday. The Pride finished the day with a team score of 188.400, while the host Red Dragons totaled 186.375 in the loss.
Springfield's best event score came on the floor as it combined for a 48.350, with Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.H.) and Christina Wygonik (Wading River, N.Y.) leading the charge with scores of 9.750 to win the event for the Pride. MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) also posted a score of 9.725 to round out the top-three for the Pride in the event.
On the bars, Springfield hit for a 45.150 as Winter Osborne (Fairbanks, Alaska) finished third as an individual with a 9.500. Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) posted an individual score of 9.500 to finish in third place in the event and Ayako Maeda (Yokohama, Japan) delivered a 9.025 to finish fifth.
The Pride also earned a team score of 47.350 on the balance beam, which was highlighted by the efforts of Rosier, who won the event with a score of 9.600. Sipes also was able to land a score of 9.550 to finish in second place, and the duo of Rae Anna Schutz (Mays Landing, N.J.) and Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.) would each post scores of 9.525 as the Pride took the top-four finishers on the event.
On the vault, Springfield's Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) posted a career-high score of 9.600 to claim second place in the event. Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) recorded a score of 9.550 to claim third place. Schutz and Belog also managed to secure a top-five finish with marks of 9.475.
Springfield will compete at home versus Centenary next Sunday at 1 pm.
