Springfield, Mass. - February 5, 2023 - Competing in Blake Arena for the first time this season, the Springfield College women's gymnastics team produced its highest score of the 2023 campaign to down visiting Ithaca on Sunday afternoon. Springfield turned in a team score of 187.525 to outdistance Ithaca's mark of 185.925.
The Pride had the top finisher on all four events today en route to the victory as it scored at least a 47.000 on three of the four apparatus. On the floor, Springfield posted a 47.825 and was led by a career-best performance by Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.H.) as she registered a winning score of 9.825. MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) added a 9.675 to finish in third and Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.) tallied a 9.600 to tie for fifth. The Pride was equally as impressive on the vault with the same team score of 47.825, except on this event, Springfield had the top three finishers. Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) continued to impress as she was victorious with a career-high score of 9.700, while Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) added a the highest score of her collegiate career with a 9.575 for runner-up honors. Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) rounded out the top three with a 9.550.
It was a 47.000 even on the balance beam for the Pride as Springfield registered the top two scores on the afternoon. Belog won the event with a 9.700 and Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) added a 9.675, her best-score of the season on the beam, en route to second-place. MacLeod was credited with a 9.625 for the Pride to earn fourth place honors. It was Sipes that took the top spot on the uneven bars after she recorded a 9.500, while Christina Wygonik (Wading River, N.Y.) scored a 9.125 for third place. Kiley followed closely behind in fourth with her 9.050.
Next Sunday, Springfield will travel to take on Brown.
