Collegeville, Pa. - March 11, 2023 - For the second-straight season, the Springfield College women's gymnastics team took second at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Regional Championships to punch their ticket as a team to the upcoming national championships.
Springfield has now strung together two-consecutive seasons of runner-up finishes and is one of three teams who earned a bid to the NCGA Championships slated for March 25 at Winona State. The last time that Pride qualified for nationals as a team in consecutive years after placing in the top two of the regional championships was in the 1999 and 2000 campaigns. Brockport claimed the team title with a 192.200, while the Pride put together its best score of the season against Division III competition with a 189.150 to finish in second and Ithaca tallied a 189.060 and took third.
Highlighting the day was a program record by Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) on the vault as she hit for a 9.750 to best the previous mark of 9.725 that was set by Marissa DeAngelo and Taylor Jackson in 2016 and 2018. Kiley's score on Saturday earned her a spot on the podium as she was took second in the event, while Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.) and Julia Reer (Cedar Grove, N.J.) each scored 9.425's to help the Pride to a 47.250 on the event.
The Pride's best team score of the day came on the floor as it produced a 48.375 thanks to the trio of MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine), Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.H.), and Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) who all scored 9.700's to tie for ninth place.
On the beam, the Pride posted a 47.675 with MacLeod tying for fourth in the competition following her 9.750. Belog added a 9.675 and Winter Osborne (Fairbanks, Alaska) was credited with a 9.650 to highlight Springfield's efforts. Springfield wrapped up the day on the uneven bars and benefitted from a fourth-place score of 9.600 from Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.), while Osborne delivered a 9.550 for seventh-place honors and Christina Wygonik (Wading River, N.Y.) registered a 9.00 of her own.
