Winona, Minn. - March 25, 2023 - Led by a pair of national-championship performances, the Springfield College women's gymnastics program finished fourth at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championships on Saturday afternoon at Winona State University.
For just the second time in program history, and first since 1996, Springfield had multiple national champions at the NCGA Championships as Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.H.) won the individual title on the balance beam and Christina Wygonik (Wading River, N.Y.) captured the championship on the floor exercise. Also highlighting the day was Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) on the vault, as she re-established her school record en route to taking national runner-up honors on the event.
In her first season at the helm of the Pride, head coach Emily Bellin led Springfield to a fourth-place finish as a team with a 190.100. Making an appearance in the national meet for the second-straight year for the first time since 2000, Springfield was the top finishing team from the East as it outproduced Brockport (189.225) and Ithaca (187.925) on the day.
Starting the day on the uneven bars, Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) had the Pride's top score of a 9.600 as she tied for ninth in the event, while Kiley produced a 9.150 and Wygonik recorded a 9.125. On the beam, Rosier became just the second Springfield College women's gymnast to ever win a title on the apparatus as she delivered a winning score of 9.825. Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.) tied for sixth with the third-best score on the event with a 9.750 to garner All-America honors, and Winter Osborne (Fairbanks, Alaska) was credited with a 9.675 to help Springfield to a 48.275 team score.
On the vault, Kiley put together another record-setting performance with her 9.775 to finish second in the nation. Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) turned in a 9.600 and Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) closely followed with a 9.550. Wygonik led the way with Springfield scoring a 48.525 on the floor exercise as she was victorious on the event with a mark of 9.825 to became the third floor exercise national champion in program history. Teammate MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) closed out her career with an All-America performance of her own, tying for sixth with a 9.775, while Rosier took 10th with a 9.750.
