Springfield, Mass. - April 1, 2023 - The Springfield College men's track and field took part in the American International Invitational on the campus of AIC on Saturday afternoon in their first outdoor meet of the spring season.
Michael Scott (Shoreview, Minn.) started the Pride out at the 10m, as he grabbed a second-place finish crossing the line at 10.98, followed by Seth Regan (Killingworth, Conn.) in fifth, with a time of 11.02. David Cataloni (Attleboro, Mass.) also put in a third-place performance over at the 110 hurdles, as he clocked in at 15.96. Regan would also claim the highest place for the Pride at the 200 with a time of 22.07.
Rece Gobel (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) took home first-place honors at the 1500 run, as he finished with a time of 4:05.89. At the 400 dash, Connor Joyce (Hampden, Mass.) ran for the highest result, as he finished in sixth place, putting down a pace of 53.16. Kyle Kemp (Cheshire, Conn.) would run the quickest for Springfield at the 400 hurdles as he crossed in 1:02.53.
The team of Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE), Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.), Regan, and Scott would team up to grab a first place at the 4x100 relay, as the team produced a time of 41.91. Later, at the 4x400m relay, another team of Joyce, Kevin Lee (Hyde Park, N.Y.), Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.), and Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) would also race to first place as the squad put through a time of 3:26.62.
McGlashan would leap the highest for the Pride at the high jump, as he cleared the 1.80m. Lee also jumped for a high result, taking home third-place honors at the long jump as he made it to the 6.32m mark. Jamie Cocca (Sand Lake, N.Y.) threw for a fifth-place finish at the discus throw, as he heaved it for a result of 43m.
At the hammer throw, Cocca once again tossed for a strong result, this time grabbing second place with a throw of 48.81m, and then ended his day with a sixth-place result at the shot put, finding the 13.80m mark. Daniel Criscio (Seymour, Conn.) collected first place at the javelin throw, as he hurled for a mark of 53.54m, with teammate Travis Brown (Hartford, Conn.) right behind in second with a result of 52.58, closing out the day for the Pride.
The Pride travel back home next weekend as they host the Springfield College Invitational next Saturday, April 8.
