Springfield, Mass. – April 8, 2023 – The Springfield College men's track and field team hosted its lone regular season outdoor meet of the year this afternoon on Blake Track. Prior to the start of today's meet Springfield honored its senior class.
Today's meet was highlighted by the 4x100-meter relay squad of Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE), Seth Regan (Killingworth, Conn.), Michael Scott (Shoreview, Minn.) and Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) won the event with a time of 41.78-seconds that currently ranks 18th in the country.
Scott went on to individually win the 100-meter dash in 10.91-seconds, while Rece Gobel (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) crossed the line first in the 1,500-meter run in 4:30.05 and Christopher Vayda (Southampton, Mass.) won the 5,000-meter run in 15:09.80.
In the field events, Springfield saw two student-athletes claim first place finishes as Colby Wilson (Tewksbury, Mass.) won the long jump with a best leap of 6.81m (22 feet, 4.25 inches) and Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) won the pole vault with a best height of 4.00m (13 feet, 1.5 inches).
Daniel Criscio (Seymour, Conn.) registered a runner-up finish in the javelin throw this afternoon with a best toss of 54.22m (177 feet, 10 inches) as that throw ranks him 34th in Division III men's track and field.
Springfield saw seven student-athletes register second place finishes on the day to round out the highlights of the Springfield College Classic. Weber posted a time of 10.95-seconds in the 100-meter dash, David Cataloni (Attleboro, Mass.) finished the 100-meter hurdles in 15.24-seconds, Scott crossed the line in 21.99-seconds in the 200-meter dash, Thomas Czerwinski (Suffern, N.Y.) produced a time of 50.86-secodns in the 400-meter dash and John DeRosa (Shelton, Conn.) finished the 5,000-meter run in 15:23.38.
Jamie Cocca (Sand Lake, N.Y.) and Cataloni also posted second place finishes in their respective field events as Cocca posted a mark of 13.21m (43 feet, 4.25 inches) in the shot put, while Cataloni registered a mark of 13.19m (44 feet, 5.5 inches) in the triple jump.
Springfield College will travel to Connecticut College next Saturday, April 15, for the Silfen Invitational.
