Selinsgrove, Pa. – May 17, 2023 – Highlighted by a record-breaking performance from the 4x100 relay, the Springfield College men's track and field team opened up competition at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships hosted by Susquehanna on Wednesday.
After claiming the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) All-New England Championship, New England Division III Championship, and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship the last three-consecutive weeks, the squad of Michael Scott (Shoreview, Minn.), Seth Regan (Killingworth, Conn.), Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) and Anthony Penta (Southington, Conn.) continued to impress as they shattered the Springfield College school record in the event with a 40.62. The previous record occured when Weber, Anik Dole, Scott, and Tyler Hansen combined to run a 40.88 in the prelims of the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships. To date, Springfield's time of 40.62 is tied for the fourth fastest time in Division III this season as the Pride took second in the race on Wednesday.
Later in the afternoon, Weber would produce the second-fastest qualifying time in the 100 meters with a 10.68, while Penta just missed out on the finals with a ninth-place time of 10.84. Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE) also ran a time of 11.34 in the prelims.
