Box Score Williamstown, Mass. – September 13, 2023 – The Springfield College women's soccer team was toppled for the first time this season as it was bested by nationally-ranked Williams College, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
Springfield is now 2-1-2 on the year, while the Ephs are 3-0-1 as they entered the match ranked No. 22 in the country in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll.
Williams had 28 shots on the day compared to just four for the Pride as Springfield's Taryn Ryan (Holyoke, Mass.) needed to make 12 saves on the day.
Isabel Konijnenberg connected for the first goal of the day on Cole Field in the 35th minute as Ansley Burns delivered a cross from the endline that was just over the outstretched arms of Ryan. Konijnenberg was able to collect the loose ball and slot in an empty net goal for what would prove to be the game-winning marker.
Jaquelin Nordhoff added an unassisted marker in the 76th minute and Tori Huang added an insurance goal of her own with less than two minutes remaining to complete the scoring. Jen Walker (Webster, Mass.) and Meredith Healy (Niantic, Conn.) each had a shot on goal for the visiting Pride on the day.
The Pride will begin New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday when it heads to play Salve Regina at 12 pm.
