Springfield, Mass. - September 27, 2023 - Two goals in the first 18 minutes of play were the difference tonight as RPI defeated the Springfield College women's soccer team, 2-0, in a non-conference matchup on Brock-Affleck Field.

Springfield dipped to 4-2-2 on the year, while RPI remained unbeaten and sits at 5-0-3 in 2023.

RPI scored just four minutes into the contest as Rachel Borra found Bryanna Swinson for the early edge. Springfield tried to respond and peppered the net with five straight shots, three of which were stopped by RPI keeper Megan Wampner. After the barrage of attempts by the Pride, the Engineers gathered the ball and doubled their advantage as Haley Cole finished a pass from Gwen Barnes for the 2-0 advantage.

Overall, Springfield held an 11-4 advantage in shots, but ultimately could not find the back of the net. Only three corner kicks were taken tonight, two of which came from the home standing Pride.

Wampner made six saves for RPI in the shutout win, while Taryn Ryan (Holyoke, Mass.) and Mallory Forgatch (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) split time for the Pride with one save apiece.

Springfield will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 30 at 1:00 pm as the Pride head to Wheaton College for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup at Mirrione Stadium.
