Providence, R.I.. – January 20, 2024 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics squad took fourth at the Rhode Island College Quad on Saturday afternoon. Brockport posted a winning mark of 188.375, followed by Cortland's team score of 187.050. Host RIC tallied a 186.100 and Springfield turned in a 184.375.
Sophia LeBlanc (Waltham, Mass.) was the top all-around scorer on the afternoon with a 37.950, while
Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) notched a 35.750.
Springfield's best-scoring event on the afternoon came on the floor exercise with a 47.250 as LeBlanc tied for first with a 9.750.
Claire Geiger (Independence, Ky.) was impressive as she tied for fourth with a 9.650 and Kaplan scored a 9.600 for eighth place. On the beam, the Pride posted a team mark of 47.150, fueled by
Julia Reer's (Cedar Grove, N.J.) first-place score of 9.675. LeBlanc was fifth with her 9.550 and
Rae Anna Schutz (Mays Landing, N.J.) registered a 9.475 to take seventh.
The vault was highlighted by a Kaplan's score of 9.475 and
Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) was credited with a 9.425. LeBlanc paced Springfield on the uneven bars with a fifth-place score of 9.475 and
Marissa Zarra (Warwick, R.I.) notched a 8.675.
Next Sunday, Springfield hosts Rhode Island College at 1 pm.
