West Point, N.Y. – January 27, 2024 – The Springfield College men's gymnastics team was clipped by host Army in their first dual meet of the 2024 season on Saturday afternoon by a score of 382.300-367.200.
Sam Kaplan (Fairhaven, Mass.) took first in the all-around competition as he finished the six events with a 70.300, including an individual win on the parallel bars.
Dominic Ramalho (Hollis, N.H.) put together the Pride's top mark on the floor exercise as he placed fourth with a 13.000, followed by
Timothy Templeton's (Maynard, Mass.) 12.700 performance and
Evan Reichert (Oswego, Ill.) score of 12.600.
On the pommel horse,
Peyton Cramer (Grapevine, Texas) delivered a second-place score of 13.000 and
Juan Gomez (Tallahassee, Fla.) took third with a 12.500.
Felix Kriedemann (Strasslach, Germany) added a 12.350 en route to fifth-place honors on the apparatus. Kramer would notch the Pride's best score on the rings with a 12.250 and Kaplan was credited with an 11.850.
Ramalho hit his vault for a 14.150, which was good enough for fourth place, while
Owen Carney (Sterling, Mass.) scored a 14.050 and Reichert tallied a 13.70 to help Springfield score a 67.700 on the event as a team. Kaplan would later win the parallel bars when he earned a 13.100.
Tyler Beekman (Bedford, N.H.) put together a strong outing en route to a 12.800 to tie for third and
Noah Dwaliwal (South Orange, N.J.) registered a 12.500.
Carney would also record a winning score of 13.000 on the horizontal bar and Kriedemann scored a 12.800 and Dwaliwal tacked on a 12.250 to close out the day.
Next Sunday, Springfield will compete against William & Mary in its home opener, slated for a 1 pm start in Blake Arena.
