Over the next six minutes, William Peace went on a 12-3 run to pull within a point at 17-16 with 6:05 remaining in the first half following a layup by Michael Dulin. William Peace took its first lead of the game at 23-22 with under two to play on a jumper by Dylan McBride, but a trey by RJ Hutt (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) gave Springfield the lead back at 25-24 heading into the break.

The second half was back and forth with neither team making it more than a two possession game. Trailing 42-40, an and-one play by Paulino made it a one point contest at 42-41 before a tip-in by Evely gave Springfield the lead back with 6:55 to play. Even at 48-48, a costly foul by William Peace gave Hunter Matteson (Dartmouth, Mass.) two free throws, which in result gave Springfield the lead it needed to hold off the Pacers, 55-52.
