Women's Volleyball Shuts Down Endicott, 3-0

Springfield, Mass. - November 7, 2024 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team closed out non-conference play with an impressive three-set sweep over Endicott on Thursday night in Blake Arena by the scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-14.

Springfield pushed its record to 20-6 on the season, while the Gulls dropped to 19-7.

The Pride hit at a season-best .425 clip in the sweep, which marked Springfield's best offensive showing since it hit .500 on September 2, 2023 versus Rivier.  Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.) totaled 13 kills at a .458 hitting percentage and Tori Colosimo (Fairport, N.Y.) was credited with 30 assists, seven digs, four blocks, and three aces in directing the offense.  Maeve Voltz (Bay Shore, N.Y.) recorded a career-best 10 blocks and had six kills on 10 errorless attempts and Olivia Nealy (Savannah, Ga.) picked up a match-high eight digs as Springfield's defense limited Endicott to a .050 hitting percentage.

Voltz and Colosimo teammed up for a thunderous block to give Springfield an 8-0 lead to begin the match as the Pride set the tone early.  After the Gulls got within 19-13, Springfield scored the next five points, with Jodi Saelua (Mililani, Hawaii) converting for a pair of transition kills, to regain a 23-13 advantage. Saelua would later put away her fourth kill of the set to conclude the 25-14 triumph.

Endicott scored the first three points of the second set and owned a 9-7 edge in the early going.  However, Springfield would respond out of a Gull timeout with a 8-2 burst, as Voltz hammered a ball in transition to force the visitors into their second timeout at 15-11.  Springfield would earn set point at 24-18 following Endicott's 11th attack error of the set before Voltz buried a kill for the 25-19 win.

The Gulls again scored the first three points of the frame, but Springfield would take control of the stanza, scoring 19 of the next 25 points to seize a 19-9 lead. Donahue would account for six kills and Voltz added four blocks in a set where the Pride totaled 15 kills at a .519 clip to complete the sweep.

Springfield will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when it travels to take on Babson at 4 pm.
