Springfield, Mass. - December 9, 2024 - Max Berkowitz, Springfield College's Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, was selected to attend the inaugural Division III Athletic Communicators Emerging Elite Program in partnership with Division III Sports Information Directors of America (D3SIDA) and College Sports Communicators (CSC) December 9-10, 2024 at the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis.

The program's goal is to provide professional development and networking opportunities for athletic communicators, particularly those early in their careers seeking to advance to a director-level position or those who have recently become a director. Topics discussed will cover a variety of professional development areas that may include leadership training, networking, positioning yourself to oversee a staff, collaborating with others, navigating expanded responsibilities and more.

"I am fortunate to have been selected for this opportunity from the D3SIDA board and the NCAA National Office," said Berkowitz. "I'm looking forward to going to Indianapolis to connect and learn from colleagues from across the country and bring that back to Alden Street next semester. Having been in the profession for ten years now, it's awesome to see specific programming geared towards us who work in Division III athletics."

Berkowitz will join 29 other Division III professionals in Indianapolis next month for the two-day seminar. In addition to the in-person programming this winter in Indianapolis, Berkowitz will receive complimentary registration to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Convention, which will be held at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, Florida next June.

"It was immediately clear when Max joined our staff in 2023 that he has an unquestioned passion for this industry," said Springfield College Director of Athletics, Craig Poisson. "His skill set has allowed him to make a significant impact here and I know our student-athletes will benefit from what he learns at this well-earned professional growth opportunity."

Berkowitz joined the Springfield College in the Spring of 2023 after holding positions at MIT as Sports Information Assistant from 2015-2021 and most recently FDU-Florham as Sports Information Director from 2021-23. He has also had opportunities with Major League Lacrosse, the Cape Cod Baseball League, Minor League Baseball and the Springfield Thunderbirds.
