New Haven, Conn. – February 10, 2024 – The Springfield College women's gymnastics program clashed with Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College on Saturday. The Pride took second among the three teams, as SCSU registered a 192.875, while the Pride took notched a 188.950, edging RIC's mark of 188.850.
Ayako Maeda (Yokohama, Japan) had Springfield's top individual finish on the afternoon and placed third on the uneven bars with a 9.625.
Sophia LeBlanc (Waltham, Mass.) finished sixth after tallying a 9.475 and
Emma Skowronek (West Chester, Pa.) and
Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) each scored 9.075.
The Pride's efforts on the vault was paced by
Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.), who took 10th with a 9.500, while
Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) closely followed tih a 9.475 and
Claire Geiger (Independence, Ky.) added a 9.425.
LeBlanc registered a 9.675 en route to a top-five finish on the balance beam, while
Kelly McGuinness (Groton, Mass.) tallied a 9.625 and
Rae Anna Schutz (Mays Landing, N.J.) earned a 9.550. On the floor, Taylor scored a 9.775 to tie for fourth and
Julia Reer (Cedar Grove, N.J.) hit for a 9.725 and Geiger was credited with a 9.700.
Next Sunday, Springfield will host Cortland in a 1 pm showdown.
