Kissimmee, Fla. - March 11, 2024 - In its opening match of its Spring Break trip in Florida, the Springfield College men's tennis team was upended by Bethel, 6-3, on Monday morning.
The match started in singles play and Bethel was able to claim four victories, three of which came in third-set tiebreakers. At the top singles spot,
Tatsuya Kimoto (Yamaguchi, Japan) powered his way to a 6-4, 7-5 victory, while
Phakin Thongbooncharoen (Bangkok, Thailand) prevailed by a 6-0, 6-3 decision at No. 4.
In doubles, Thongbooncharoen teammed up with
Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) to earn an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 position for the Pride.
The Pride will compete again on Wednesday evening when it clashes with Coe at 6 pm at the USTA National Training Center.
