Orlando, Fla. - March 13, 2024 - The Springfield College men's tennis team fell to Coe College by an 8-1 final late on Wednesday evening at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
Coe improved to 5-7, while Springfield dipped to 1-3. The Pride will wrap up its trip to Florida with a matchup against Ithaca College on Thursday afternoon at 12:00 pm at Sylvan Lake Park.
Coe won all three points in doubles action, but
Tim Norin (Stockholm, Sweden) and
Waseem Sablon (Stoughton, Mass.) played the closest match ultimately falling, 8-6 at No. 2.
In singles play,
Phakin Thongbooncharoen (Bangkok, Thailand) was the lone victor for Springfield as he won by a 6-3, 6-4 final at No. 4.
Tatsuya Kimoto (Yamaguchi, Japan) and
Marc Villanueva Abad (Morelia, Mexico) played three set thrillers at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, but ultimately fell by scores of 2-6, 7-5, 8-10 and 7-5, 3-6, 8-10.
