Kissimmee, Fla. - March 11, 2024 - In its first match since traveling to Florida for Spring Break, the Springfield College women's tennis team was defeated by Bethel, 6-3, on Monday morning.
The teams started off in doubles play and Springfield was able to battle their way to a pair of points to take a 2-1 lead into singles.
Veronica Fulgieri (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and
Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.) teammed up for an 8-6 win at No. 3, while
Emma Aberle (West Warren, Mass.) and
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand) earned an 8-6 triumph of their own at No. 2.
Bethel would respond with five wins in singles play to earn the victory. Springfield's lone point came at the No. spot as
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) delivered a 6-3, 6-4 win.
The Pride will compete again on Wednesday evening when it takes on Trinity at 6:30 pm at the USTA National Training Center.
