Orlando, Fla. - March 13, 2024 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was defeated by Trinity College (Conn.), 6-1, late on Wednesday evening at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
Trinity improved to 3-1, while Springfield moved to 0-4. The Pride will wrap up its trip to Florida with a matchup against Ithaca College on Thursday afternoon at 12:00 pm at Sylvan Lake Park.
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) and
Alysa Elliot (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles for the Pride, but the Bantams came out ahead 2-1 after doubles play as the Pride were edged, 8-7, at No. 2 and 8-5 at No. 3.
Trinity won all four points in singles play in straight sets. No. 1 and No. 2 singles were left unfinished due, but both were close. At No. 1, Vetttayawaikoon had won the first set, 6-4, and the second set was even at 6-6 when the match was called.
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand) split the first two sets at No. 2, 3-6, 7-6 (2).
