North Dartmouth, Mass. – March 30, 2024 - The Springfield College men's track and field team opened up the outdoor portion of their season at the UMASS Dartmouth Corsair Invitational on Saturday. The Pride finished fourth among the 10 teams in the competition with 95 points.
Springfield's 4x100 opened up the season in impressive fashion as it won the competition with a 42.77 thanks to the efforts of
Giovanni Henrickson (Chelsea, Mass.),
Brenden Brown (Lynn, Mass.),
Ari Papdimitriou (Shelton, Conn.), and
Seth Regan (Killingworth, Conn.). The Pride received first-place points as well from
Sam Polley (Feeding Hills, Mass.), who won the 400 in 51.15, and
Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE) who sprinted to the win in the 100 with a 10.72.
In the horizontal jumps,
Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) earned third-place points in the long jump with a mark of 6.33 meters and
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) took fourth with a 12.92 meters.
Travis Brown (Hartford, Conn.) took fifth in the javelin with a mark of 51.86m, while the Pride had a pair of top eight finishers in the high jump as
Daniel Hyde (Monroe, Conn.) and
Max Torres (Springfield, Mass.) each reached a height of 1.80 meters.
Connor Daley (West Springfield, Mass.) also turned in a sixth-place performance after turning in a distance of 38.77 meters in the discus.
Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) finished the pole vault in fourth place after registering a height of 3.95 meters
Ricky Perruzzi (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) completed the 10,000 meters in 37:06.94 and
Adam Mula (West Townsend, Mass.) crossed the finish line of the 1,500 in 4:13.05
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) was the runner-up in the 110 hurdles in 14.98, closely followed by
Isaiah Hannah's (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) third-place time of 16.53.
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) was also the runner-up in the 400 meters in 51.38 and Henrickson posted a 11.25 in the 100 for sixth place. Anderson also placed fifth in the 400 hurdles with a 59.78, while Hannah ran a 1:02.35.
In the 4x400 relay, the Pride's fastest time came from
Tyler Fabbri (Andover, Mass.), Polley, Papdimitriou, and Hansen who ran a 3:34.10.
Next Saturday, Blake Track will be the site for the Springfield College Classic.
