Ithaca, N.Y. – March 9, 2024 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team took sixth at the NCGA East Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon at Ithaca College. The Pride earned a mark of 189.775 in the competition, which proved to be its highest team score of the 2024 campaign.
In addition, two student-athletes will individually represent Springfield at the upcoming NCGA National Championships.
The Pride started off the afternoon on the floor and turned in a team mark of 48.450.
Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) led the way for Springfield with a 9.750, while
Julia Reer (Cedar Grove, N.J.) hit for a 9.725 and
Claire Geiger (Independence, Ky.) added a 9.700.
Springfield then rotated to the vault where
Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) hit for a 9.675 to pace the Pride's efforts.
Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) added a 9.600 and Kaplan added a 9.575 to help the Pride earn a team mark of 47.775.
LeBlanc then tied her school record on the uneven bars with a 9.800 to tie for fourth and
Ayako Maeda (Yokohama, Japan) closely followed with a 9.700, while Geiger notched a 9.175 as Springfield registered a score of 46.775 in its third event of the afternoon.
Springfield capped the East Regional Championships on the beam and tallied a score of 46.775 to finish the meet with a combined score of 189.775.
Kelly McGuinness (Groton, Mass.) paced the Pride with a score of 9.700 to tie for fifth, while LeBlanc posted a 9.600 and Reer notched a 9.425.
LeBlanc also finished as the runner-up in the all-around competition as the graduate student posted a 38.50.
