New London, Conn. – April 13, 2024 – The Springfield College men's track and field team competed at the Silfen Invitational on the campus of Connecticut College and the UConn Northeast Challenge on Saturday as the Pride continued its outdoor season.
As a team, Springfield placed fifth at the Silfen Invite with a score of 56 points and 22nd at the UConn Northeast Challenge with three points. Springfield was one of just five Division III programs which competed at UConn today as the field consisted of a number of top Division I programs from New England.
On the track at Connecticut College,
Michael Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) paced Springfield with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.89 and a third place finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.42.
Giovanni Henrickson (Chelsea, Mass.) also had a nice day with a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash in 11.26 and a 12th place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.99.
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) was Springfield's top finisher in the 400-meter dash as he crossed the line in 51.19, while
Adam Mula (West Townsend, Mass.) registered a fifth place finish in the 800-meter run in 1:57.21 and a 17th place finish in the 1500-meter run in 4:10.27.
Christopher Vayda (Southampton, Mass.) rounded out the highlights on the track for Springfield at the Silfen Invite with his seventh place finish the 5000-meter run in 15:14.41.
Connor Daley (West Springfield, Mass.) was Springfield's top finisher in three field events including the shot put (11.76m), hammer throw (39.83m) and discus throw (37.58m).
Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) traded places in the horizontal jumps as Dahm placed eighth in the long jump (6.02m) and 19th in the triple jump (11.34m), while McGlashan took tenth in the triple jump (12.59m) and 14th in the long jump (5.87m).
Travis Brown (Hartford, Conn.) and
Daniel Hyde (Monroe, Conn.) rounded out the highlights in the field events as Brown placed third in the javelin throw (53.90m), while Hyde took fourth in the high jump (1.87m) and 11th in the discus throw (36.97m).
At UConn,
Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) took 22nd in the 100-meter dash (10.99) and 17th in the 200-meter dash (22.01), while
Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE) finished ninth in the 200-meter dash in 21.55 and 24th in the 100-meter dash (11.02). The 4x100-meter relay team of Weber, Dole,
Anthony Penta (Southington, Conn.) and
Dante Lingley (Westbrook, Maine) posted a sixth place finish in 41.86.
Springfield will compete at the Trinity College Invitational next Saturday in Hartford.
