Northampton, Mass. - April 23, 2024 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was outlasted by host Smith College, 8-1, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest on Tuesday afternoon.
The Pride's lone point of the afternoon came in doubles play as the squad's No. 1 team of
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand) and
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) prevailed by an 8-4 margin.
Three of the singles matches went three sets, with the Pioneers pulling out the victory in each. Manataweewat was clipped by a 6-4, 2-6, 10-0 score at No. 2, while
Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.) was edged 1-6, 7-6, 10-4, and
Natalia Peyon (Hong Kong) was bested 6-4, 2-6, 6-32.
Springfield closes out the regular season on Saturday when it hosts Emerson at 12 pm.
