Springfield, Mass. – April 26, 2024 – Springfield College scored 24 points on day one of the 2024 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon at Blake Track.
No. 7 MIT leads the way with 77 points, WPI is second (38.5), Babson is third (38), Springfield is fourth (24), Coast Guard is fifth (16.5) and Wheaton is sixth (1).
Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) had the best finish for Springfield this afternoon as he took third in the long jump with a best leap of 6.82-meters (22 feet, 4.50 inches). Behind Dahm
was Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) in fifth (6.56-meters, 21 feet, 6.25 inches),
Evan Weber (Purchase, N.Y.) in seventh (6.25-meters, 20 feet, 6.25 inches) and
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) in eighth (6.05-meters, 19 feet, 10.25 inches).
Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) posted a fifth place finish in the pole vault with a best clearance of 4.25-meters (13 feet, 11.25 inches), while
Connor Daley (West Springfield, Mass.) led the way for the Pride with a sixth place finish in the hammer throw (40.67-meters, 133 feet, 5 inches). Behind Daley in the hammer was
Charles Botelho (Middleboro, Mass.) in ninth (37.20-meters, 122 feet) and
Peyton Blanchard (Kennebunk, Maine) in 12th (31.92-meters, 104 feet, 8 inches).
Travis Brown (Hartford, Conn.) took fifth in the javelin throw with a best mark of 52.86-meters (173 feet, 5 inches), while
Azaiah Nanson (Blue Hill, Maine) finished 13th (35.08-meters, 115 feet, 1 inch) and McKenney finished 14th (33.65-meters, 110 feet, 4 inches).
In the 10,000-meter run,
Max Serling (Pittsfield, N.Y.) finished 15th overall in 36:09.28,
while Ricky Peruzzi (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished 16th in 36:33.35.
In the prelims of the 100-meter dash,
Anik Dole (Dubai, UAE),
Seth Regan (Killingworth, Conn.) and
Dante Lingley (Westbrook, Maine) all qualified for tomorrow's final with times of 10.84, 10.95 and 10.97, respectively, while
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) and
Isaiah Hannah (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) qualified for tomorrow's finals of the 110-meter hurdles with times of 14.77 and 15.81, respectively.
Brady Cote (South Hadley, Mass.) currently leads the pack in the decathlon through five events with 2680 points after winning the 400-meter dash in 52.31.
Day two of the NEWMAC Track and Field Championships will begin at 10:30 am tomorrow morning.
