Springfield, Mass. – April 7, 2024 – The Springfield College men's tennis team collected another New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win as it dropped Salve Regina, 8-1, at the Appleton Tennis Courts on Sunday.
Springfield pushed its record to 4-6 and is 3-0 against conference foes.
The Pride swept doubles play behind some very strong performances as
James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) and
Zach Taub (New Windsor, N.Y.) delivered an 8-1 victory at No. 3 and
Micah Matsudaira (Cornwall, Conn.) and
Waseem Sablon (Stoughton, Mass.) cruised to an 8-2 victory at No. 2
Marc Villanueva Abad (Morelia, Mexico) and
Tatsuya Kimoto (Yamaguchi, Japan) added the third doubles point as they grinded out an 8-6 win at the No. 1 spot.
Kimoto notched a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 1 and
Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) tacked on a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3. Taub would add another point with his 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 and
Tim Norin (Stockholm, Sweden) registered a 6-3, 6- 1 victory at No. 5.
Nathan Eliot (Gros-Islet, St. Lucia ) broke into the lineup and came through with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6.
On Wednesday, Springfield will host Nichols at 3:30 pm in their non-conference finale.
