Springfield, Mass. - August 29, 2024 - The Springfield College football team will have the 2024 campaign get underway on Friday, September 6 and enters the season receiving votes in the AFCA Division III Coaches Poll, presented by Hudl.
A total of 45 schools from across the nation received votes, with the Pride being one of just two programs from New England to appear in the poll.
Last season, the Pride owned a 9-2 record, won its third consecutive NEWMAC title and appeared on the national stage in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament as it hosted a first round game in the national tournament for the first time since 2017. Springfield, which led Division III in rushing last year with over 380 yards per game, returns its entire backfield and the student-athletes who accounted for 99% of its rushing total from a season ago. On the defensive side of the ball, the Pride return seven starters from a group that allowed just over 15 points per game, including under 12 per conference outing.
Springfield takes on Western New England under the lights at Stagg Field on Friday, September 6 at 7 pm in the 11th annual Pynchon SAW Game.
