Beverly, Mass. – September 24, 2024 – The Springfield College men's tennis prevailed in a 6-1 decision versus Endicott on Tuesday afternoon.
The win boosted the Pride's record to 2-0 on the season.
Springfield captured the doubles point as it took two of the three matches, as
Micah Matsudaira (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) and
Phakin Thongbooncharoen (Bangkok, Thailand) cruised to a 6-1 decision at No. 2 and the No. 3 squad of
Tim Norin (Stockholm, Sweden) and
Marten Schalin (Taby, Sweden) produced a 7-6 triumph.
Angelo Guzman (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) was first off the courts in singles play as he eased to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 and Thongbooncharoen followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4
Tatsuya Kimoto (Yamaguchi, Japan) battled his way to a three-set win at the top spot, 1-6, 6-4, 11-8, to clinch the match.
Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) used a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win at No. 6 and
Zach Taub (New Windsor, Conn.) ended the afternoon with a 4-6, 7-6, 10-8 victory at No. 5.
This upcoming weekend, Springfield will compete in the ITA Regional Championships.
