South Hadley, Mass. – October 21, 2025 – The Springfield College women's volleyball team picked up a three set win over Mount Holyoke College on the road in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Tuesday evening.
Springfield, which entered the night 27th in the NCAA Power Index rankings, improved to 19-3 overall and to 7-1 in NEWMAC play, while Mount Holyoke dropped to 12-8, 3-4. The Pride won by scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-15 and earned its 14th sweep of the season.
Ahunna James (Plainville, Mass.) led Springfield's offense with ten kills, while the middle duo of
Jodi Saelua (Mililani, Hawaii) and
Aubrey Hughes (Liberty Hill, Texas) combined for 14 kills, hit .565 and totaled 11 blocks.
Tori Colosimo (Fairport, N.Y.) dished out 26 assists, while
Olivia Nealy (Athens, Ga.) notched a team-best 11 digs.
Mount Holyoke held an 8-7 lead in the first before Springfield embarked on a 9-1 run that featured a pair of kills from James, aces from
Emily Keaveney (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and a block from Hughes and Keaveney for a 16-9 advantage. Springfield used another lengthy run – this time 8-2 and after back-to-back kills from Saelua, the Pride secured the first set 25-15.
Up by one at 15-14 in the second, swings by James and Hughes ignited a run of four straight points to push Springfield ahead 19-14. The Lyons climbed back within two, but never go any closer as one final swing by Keaveney gave Springfield the middle set, 25-20.
Springfield raced out to a 5-1 lead following kills from
Alexa Bonato (Orange, Conn.) and James and never looked back en route to the sweep. The Pride boosted its lead to as many as nine at 19-10 before two kills by Keaveney made it 21-12. James belted the ball from the outside to give Springfield match point and an error by the hosts made it 25-15 ending the match in straight sets.
Springfield will return to action on Friday to begin the New England Challenge against Williams College beginning at 7:00 pm in Blake Arena.
