South Hadley, Mass. - October 29, 2025 - The Springfield College women's soccer team shut out New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Mount Holyoke this evening, 3-0. With the win, the Pride secured a top four seed and are guaranteed a home quarterfinal game on Tuesday night in Springfield.

Springfield improves to 8-8-0 overall and 7-3-0 in the conference while the Lyons drop to 1-10-4, 0-9-1. Kayla McGrath (North Adams, Mass.) scored two goals for the Pride - both of which were her first of the season - while Molly Baxter (Pleasantville, N.Y.) added another goal. Natalia Mottura (Scarsdale, N.Y.), Olivia Beach (Cheshire, Conn.), and Jessica Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) tallied assists. 

In the 12th minute of the game, Mottura took a corner kick and found Baxter at the opposite post to net the first goal of the game. 

Later in the half, Beach drove down into the box and then passed the ball to McGrath who sent a one-hopper to the bottom right corner doubling Springfield's lead.

In the 69th minute, McGrath scored her second goal after heading the ball over the goalkeeper from a pass from Perry on a corner kick accounting for the 3-0 final.

The Pride led 36-14 in shots and 6-1 in corner kicks. Mairead Marsden (Amsterdam, N.Y.) had six saves in the win. 

Springfield will host Clark on Saturday at 1:00 pm in its final game of the regular season as the Pride await postseason play.
