Rochester, N.Y. - November 15, 2025 - The Springfield College women's basketball team beat d3hoops.com nationally-ranked No. 22 Geneso, 58-53, on Saturday night to win the 2025 Chuck Resler Tournament.
The Pride improve to 3-1 while the Knights go to 3-2.
Claire Finney (Haverhill, Mass.) was named the Most Valuable Player as she led the Pride to the win with 20 points tonight. Carrie Hess (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was named to the All-Tournament Team after having nine points with seven rebounds. Natalie Lucas (Madison, Conn.) had nine points with eight rebounds, Amanda Leary (Westbury, N.Y.) had eight points and six rebounds, and Madison Lopez (Bronx, N.Y.) had eight points, five rebounds, and dished out five assists.
Springfield came out with an early lead with the help from five points from Leary to go on a 9-0 run to lead 12-2 within the first five minutes of the game. Geneseo went on to score only three more points in the first quarter.
Eva Elliot scored four points for Geneseo who went on a 9-0 run to bring them within two points. The Pride went into the halftime break leading 25-21.
In the third quarter, the Pride and Knights continued to exchange baskets and outshot Springfield 14-12 to keep the Pride's lead within two going into the fourth.
Geneseo continued to keep it close before Finney had three-straight baskets and added a layup to bring the lead 46-37. Springfield was able to pull it out with the help of five points from Hess to get the win, 58-53.
Springfield shot 30.3-percent from the floor (20-for-66), 32.0-percent from beyond the arc (8-for-25), and was 10-for-13 from the free throw line (76.9-percent) while Geneseo shot 33.3-percent from the floor (16-for-48), 35.3-percent from three point range (6-for-17), and 88.2-percent from the charity stripe (15-for-17). As a team, Springfield edged Geneseo 40-38 off of the glass.
The Pride will travel to face Albertus Magnus on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
