New Haven, Conn. - November 19, 2025 - The Springfield College women's basketball team beat non-conference opponent Albertus Magnus, 71-48, on Wednesday night.
The Pride improve to 4-1 while the Falcons drop to 1-6.
Natalie Lucas (Madison, Conn.) led the Pride with a double-double scoring 20 points and tallying 11 rebounds while Amanda Leary (Westbury, N.Y.) also notched a double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and also had three steals. This is the second double-double and 20-point game for Lucas this season while it is the first double-double for Leary this season. Carrie Hess (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also had 17 points with six rebounds.Â
It was a slow start for both teams as Lucas scored the first points of the game just about two minutes in. She had eight of her 20 points in the first quarter to take a 14-10 lead going into the second.
The second quarter started off slow as well as six minutes in, there were only eight more points scored between both teams to keep the Pride leading 18-14. Springfield started to increase its lead after going on a 13-4 run and having a buzzer-beater from Madison Lopez (Bronx, N.Y.) to give the Pride a 33-20 lead going into the halftime break.
After exchanging a couple of baskets to start the third, the Pride went on a 12-4 run to force a timeout from the Falcons. Springfield came out of the timeout and continued to increase its lead, going up by 26 - the largest lead of the game - after a three-pointer from Claire Finney (Haverhill, Mass.).
Leading 57-33 at the start of the fourth quarter, Hess and Leary continued to be dominant offensively and combined for all of Springfield's points in the final quarter except for one basket from Ava Mamone (Troy, N.Y.) to lead the team to a 71-48 win.Â
The Pride shot 43.3-percent (26-for-60) overall and 25.0-percent (3-for-12) from three-point range while the Falcons shot 29.6-percent from the floor (16-54) and were 0-for-7 from outside of the arc. Both teams were 16-for-20 (80.0-percent) from the charity stripe.Â
The Pride dominated on the glass, outrebounding Albertus Magnus 47-26 and scoring 40 points from inside the paint while also scoring nine points off of the Falcons nine turnovers.
Springfield will host Hartford on Saturday for a 4:30 pm start in Blake Arena.Â
