Chestertown, Md. - November 22, 2025 - The Springfield College men's basketball team lost a close battle to undefeated Washington College (Md.) Saturday afternoon, 75-71.
Washington improves to 6-0 on the season while the Pride drop to 2-3 overall.Â
Josh Hartley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) continues to lead Springfield as he had 17 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks while Josiah Evely (Toronto, Ontario) and Xoren Livingston (Wayland, Mass.) had ten apiece. Hunter Matteson (Dartmouth, Mass.) had eight points and six rebounds, and John Paulino (New Bedford, Mass.) had seven points and dished out six assists.Â
It was a back-and-forth matchup for these two programs who saw the score change nine different times throughout the game. Springfield was leading for the first ten minutes of the game with the help of four points from Zachary Campbell (Philadelphia, Pa.). The Shoremen then went on a 6-0 run for its first lead of the game. The teams continued to exchange baskets until Washington College started to push ahead and had its largest lead of the half after a three-pointer from Davis Bland. At the end of the half, the hosts led 32-29.Â
The Pride came out and quickly changed the lead after an and-1 from Matteson. Halfway through the second half, the teams continued to exchange baskets and were tied at 47 after a jumper from Sean Harrigan (Pittsfield, Mass.). With time winding down, Livingston gave the Pride its final lead, 61-60, after knocking down two free throws before Washington outshot Springfield 15-10 the rest of the way to win it, 75-71
Washington shot 46-percent (23-for-50) from the floor to edge Springfield who was 27-for-62 (43.5-percent). Washington also shot 50-percent (7-for-14) from three-point range and were 22-for-25 (88-percent) from the charity stripe while the Pride shot 23.8-percent (5-for-21) from beyond the arc and were 12-17 (70.6-percent) on free throws.Â
Springfield will head to Bowdoin for its last non-conference matchup before league play on Tuesday at 2:00 pm.Â
