Springfield, Mass. – November 5, 2025 – The Springfield College women's soccer and field hockey teams have earned spots in tomorrow's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) semifinal rounds.
Women's soccer (10-8), the second seed in this year's NEWMAC Championship, defeated seventh-seeded Coast Guard on Tuesday evening and will host sixth-seeded WPI (11-6-3) on Thursday night at 7:00 pm on Brock-Affleck Field. Field hockey (13-6), the fourth seed in this year's NEWMAC Championship, defeated fifth-seeded Salve Regina on Tuesday evening and will travel to top-seeded Babson (18-1) on Thursday night at 6:00 pm on MacDowell Field in Babson Park.
Through a partnership with the NEWMAC Office and Hometown Tickets, fans can purchase tickets digitally before arriving at the field online at:
https://newmacsports.com/sports/2023/10/17/ticket%20box%20office.aspx
The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase their mobile tickets online on site but no cash option will be available. General admission tickets will cost $10 for anyone attending who is over the age of 12. Children under 12 and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket.
Tickets will be scanned at the venue approximately 90 minutes prior to the start of each contest on Thursday evening.
Springfield women's soccer and WPI will meet in the postseason for the second consecutive season. In last year's quarterfinal, the Engineers defeated the Pride, 3-0, en route to an appearance in the conference championship match at MIT. Earlier this season, Springfield returned the favor and defeated WPI, 4-2, but this time the winner will either meet top-seeded MIT or fifth-seeded Wheaton in Saturday's NEWMAC title game. Springfield is 2-2-1 in postseason meetings against the Engineers with victories coming in 2008 and 2013 and a tie in 2015.
Springfield field hockey and Babson will meet in the postseason for the first time since 2023 and for the 11th time in program history on Thursday night. In those 11 matchups, the Beavers hold a 6-5 edge, but Springfield has not advanced through Babson since 2012. Earlier this season, Springfield went toe to toe with the No. 3 ranked Beavers and held a 1-0 lead, but Babson came from behind to win the contest 2-1. At the time, the goal for Springfield was the first time the Pride had a lead in a game against Babson since 2014 and it was the first conceded goal by Babson since October 1 – a stretch of over 300 consecutive minutes of play.
The winners of both contests will advance to Saturday's NEWMAC title matches. The winner of Thursday's women's soccer contest will play either top-seeded MIT or fifth-seeded Wheaton, while the winner of Thursday's field hockey match will play either second-seeded WPI or third-seeded MIT – both matches will take place at the highest remaining seed.
