Hess Powers Women's Basketball Past Worcester State, 75-50

Springfield, Mass. – December 3, 2025 – Behind a career-high 20 points from senior forward Carrie Hess (Shrewsbury, Mass.), the Springfield College women's basketball team defeated Worcester State University, 75-50, in non-conference action on Wednesday night inside Blake Arena.

Springfield improved to 5-3 overall, while Worcester State dipped to 3-5.

Hess shot 9-for-14 from the floor and knocked down a three for her 20 points, while also adding four rebounds and two assists to her stat line tonight. Amanda Leary (Westbury, N.Y.) chipped in with 19 points, eight boards, six assists and five steals in 30 minutes of action, while Natalie Lucas (Madison, Conn.) added 14 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Pride. Hannah Lomonaco led Worcester State with 18 points tonight.

Springfield scored the first eight points of the contest as the run was highlighted by back-to-back field goals from Lucas. Before the period was over a pair of free throws from Leary and a trey by Stefany Padula (Franklin, Mass.) made it a 17-point differential as the Pride led 23-6 through one quarter. Springfield maintained its lead and eventually pushed the advantage to as many as 20 following a three and a layup from Leary making the score 35-15 as the Pride held a 39-22 lead at the break.

Springfield matched its largest lead of the game at 30 points – once in the third after a three point conversion by Claire Finney (Haverhill, Mass.) and once early in the fourth after a layup from Finney as the score stood at 65-35 with 8:24 to play.

Worcester State answered with 15 straight points over the next five minutes before a free throw from Lucas cut the Lancers run. Springfield went on to tally the final nine points of the contest to account for the 75-50 final.

As a team, Springfield posted 38 points in the paint and turned 18 Worcester State turnovers into 23 points. The Pride shot 56.4-percent from the floor (31-for-55), 55.6-percent from three point range (5-for-9) and 66.7-percent (8-for-12) from the free throw line.

Springfield will have a quick turnaround as the Pride will visit Lasell University on Friday night in an out of league contest.
