Orlando, Fla. – March 17, 2025 – The Springfield College women's tennis team rolled past Crown College, 7-0, in its first match in Florida on Monday morning.
Springfield is now 2-1 on the season picking up its first victory of the traditional spring campaign.
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) and Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) earned the first win of the day for the Pride by a 6-0 score at No. 1 doubles.
Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) and
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand) at No. 2 and
Grace Tyler (Longmeadow, Mass.) and
Catie Seklicki at No.3 completed the doubles sweep.
Springfield lost just four total games in singles play.
Gabby Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.),
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) and
Natalia Peyon (Hong Kong) all won their matches by 6-0, 6-0 finals. Vettayawaikoon was victorious 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, Elliot won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 and
Emalee Chaisson (Belchertown, Mass.) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
Springfield will take on the University of Scranton tomorrow morning at 7:30 am at the USTA National Complex.
