Orlando, Fla. – March 18, 2025 – The Springfield College women's tennis team picked up its second straight 7-0 decision in Florida as today the Pride blanked the University of Scranton.
Springfield is now 3-1 on the season.
The Pride swept all three doubles matches for an early lead in the dual.
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) and
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand) won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles,
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) and
Gabby Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) won 6-0 at No. 2 doubles and
Natalia Peyon (Hong Kong) and
Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Shea earned the first win for the Pride in singles action as she won by a 6-2, 6-0 score at No. 6. She was followed by
Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.), who won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, Manataweewat, who won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, Elliott, who won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, Heaney-Secord, who won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 and Vettayawaikoon, who won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1.
Springfield will play Trinity College (Conn.) tomorrow at 2:30pm at the USTA National Complex.
