Box Score 2 Orlando, Fla. – March 20, 2025 – The Springfield College women's tennis team split its final two matches in Florida as the Pride fell to Trinity College (Conn.), 6-1, before bouncing back for a 7-0 win over Edgewood College on Thursday at the USTA National Campus
Trinity College 6, Springfield College 1
Trinity won two of the three doubles matches to claim the point heading into singles play.
Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) and
Gabby Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) won at No. 2 doubles for Springfield by a 6-2 final. Trinity, however, won 6-2 at No. 1 and 6-4 at No. 3.
In singles play Trinity won five of the six points en route to the 6-1 final. Elliott was victorious for the Pride at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 7-6. Heaney-Secord played a tight match at No. 2, but ultimately fell to Allie Francis, 7-5, 6-4.
Springfield 7, Edgewood College 0
Springfield won all three doubles matches against Edgewood.
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand)and
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) won 6-4 at No. 1,
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) and Heaney-Secord, 6-1, at No. 2 and
Natalia Peyon (Hong Kong) and
Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) won 6-3 at No. 3.
Springfield won all six singles matches Vettayawaikoon wont 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1, Heaney-Secord won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2, Manataweewat won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3, Elliott won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4, McGoldrick won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 and Peyon won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
Springfield will host Wellesley in NEWMAC action on Saturday, March 29 at noon.
