Orlando, Fla. – March 18, 2025 – The Springfield College men's tennis team remained unbeaten following today's 6-1 win over the University of Scranton in Orlando.
Springfield's record pushed to 6-0 after today's victory and will take on Trinity College (Conn.) tomorrow at 2:30 pm at the USTA National Campus.
Springfield swept all three doubles matches for the early edge in today's matchup.
Waseem Sablon (Stoughton, Mass.) and
Tatsuya Kimoto (Yamaguchi, Japan) won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles,
Marc Villanueva Abad (Barcelona, Mexico) and
Micah Matsudaira (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and
Liam Huppke (Markham, Canada) and
Angelo Guzman (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) won 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Guzman went on to win 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while
Phakin Thongbooncharoen (Bangkok, Thailand)won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, Huppke won 3-6, 6-2, 10-2 at No. 4 singles, Abad won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and
Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Kimoto was ultimately edged 6-3, 4-6, 13-15 at No. 1 singles in a marathon match.
