Springfield, Mass. – April 2, 2025 – The Springfield College men's volleyball team ran its win streak to 14 as the Pride swept Rivier University by scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-15 on Wednesday evening in Blake Arena.
Springfield, which was ranked No. 2 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Division III national poll and third in the NCAA Power Index (NPI), improved to 22-2 with its 14th straight victory, while Rivier dropped to 10-15. Springfield has defeated Rivier twice this season after tonight's victory and is 19-1 against the Raiders in the past 20 matchups between the clubs.
Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.) hit a team-best .769 with 10 kills on 13 errorless swings to go along with four aces, three blocks and three digs.
Sam Levinson (LaGrange, Ill.) chipped in with six kills and two digs,
Chris Rouleau (Bay Shore, N.Y.) registered five kills and
Brennan Cutter (Trumbull, Conn.) and
Jake DesLauriers (Eastport, N.Y.) added four kills apiece.
Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) recorded 29 assists, five digs, three aces and two blocks to his stat line for the Pride as well.
Up by just two in the first at 12-10, a 6-1 run from Springfield that featured three kills from Durivage and aces by Mulvaney and
Giancarlo Carrion (San Juan, Puerto Rico) extended the hosts lead to 18-11. Later in the stanza, three errors by Rivier and a swing from Levinson made it 23-13 before back-to-back kills by Levinson and Durivage secured the opening set for Springfield, 25-15.
Springfield held just a one point lead midway through the second, but a swing by Levinson ignited an 8-1 run to push the hosts lead to 23-15. The spurt featured three blocks included a solo stuff at the net by Levinson as well as a pair of kills from the sophomore right side. Cutter ripped the ball down the line for a kill before an ace by Durivage gave Springfield set two, 25-16.
Springfield hit a match-best .368 in the third en route to the sweep. Once again up just one at 8-7, Cutter sparked an 8-1 run that was capped on three straight aces from Durivage to go ahead 16-8. A pair of kills from
Will Kirchhoff (Macedon, N.Y.) sandwiched between a swing by
Joey Preische (Penfield, N.Y.) made it 21-13 before a block in the middle by Cutter and
Richard Eber Jr. (Hummelstown, Pa.) and an error from the visitors accounted for the 25-15 final.
Springfield will travel to tenth-ranked Vassar College for its final regular season match against a Division III opponent on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
