Springfield, Mass. - September 17, 2025 - The tandem of
Katie McFerran (Selkirk, N.Y.) and
Kaitlyn Suller (Oviedo, Fla.) secured a 2-0 non-conference victory for the Springfield College women's soccer team over Framingham State University on Wednesday evening on Brock-Affleck Field.
Springfield picked up its first win of the season and is now 1-4, while the Rams fell to 1-4-1. Not only did the Pride earn their first victory of the 2025 campaign, but head coach Kursten Shade registered the first win of her coaching career.
The Pride struck early and often, creating offensive pressure that broke through in the 17th minute when McFerran buried a finish off a feed from Suller. Just nine minutes later, the duo reversed roles, as Suller converted a well-placed assist from McFerran in the 26th minute to double Springfield's lead.
That was all of the offense Springfield needed as the backline held Framingham State to just eight total shots with
Mallory Forgatch (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) picking up the shutout with five stops between the pipes.
Springfield held a 17-8 advantage in shots including 7-5 on goal and took 11 of the match's 12 corner kicks.
Springfield will open NEWMAC play on Saturday at home against Babson College at 1:00 pm.
