Hoboken, N.J. - September 19, 2025 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team secured a three set sweep of Stevens Institute of Technology by scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 on the opening day of the Stevens Quad in Canavan Arena this evening.
Springfield, now 8-2 this fall, will take on Oneonta at 11:30 am and Sarah Lawrence at 3:30 pm tomorrow to round out the tournament.
Tori Colosimo (Fairport, N.Y.) nearly recorded a triple-double with 23 assists, 11 digs and eight kills (8-2-11 - .545) for the Pride.
Jodi Saelua (Miliani, Hawaii) matched Colosimo's eight kills and added three blocks, while
Ahunna James (Plainville, Mass.) recorded seven kills, seven digs and two blocks. Defensively,
Olivia Nealy (Athens, Ga.) notched 15 digs to lead Springfield tonight.
Springfield trailed 21-20 late in the first set after a controversial call at the net. Out of a timeout called by Springfield, Alyssa O'Neal gave Stevens a 22-20 edge, but back-to-back kills from
Emily Keaveney (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and James and a block by James put Springfield back in front 23-22. Colosimo stepped to the service line and delivered back-to-back aces giving the Pride the first set 25-22. In the first set alone, Colosimo produced four kills, three aces, seven assists and four digs, while James and Saelua both recorded three kills for Springfield.
Springfield raced out to a 5-1 lead in the second following a pair of errors by Stevens and a swing by James. The Pride held the lead for the entirety of the stanza and an eventual kill by Keaveney ballooned Springfield's advantage to eight at 20-12. Stevens was able to force Springfield to burn a timeout after three straight points including two kills by Ella Kraver, but down the stretch two Ducks errors and a swing by Saelua secured the set 25-20 for the Pride.
In the third, a block in the middle by Saelua and
Alexa Bonato (Orange, Conn.) gave Springfield a 6-5 lead - a lead it would not relinquish the rest of the way. Springfield eventually pushed its lead to six at 20-14 following kills by Bonato and Colosimo forcing Stevens to call a timeout. A brief 4-1 spurt by the hosts pushed the Pride lead to just three and Springfield called its final timeout. An assisted by
Aubrey Hughes (Liberty Hill, Texas) and Saelua paired with a kill by James set up match point when Ella Boland belted the ball past the end line giving Springfield the third, 25-21 and the three-set sweep.
