Springfield, Mass. - September 23, 2025 - The Springfield College women's soccer team lost to No. 23 nationally-ranked Amherst, 3-0, on Tuesday night.
The Mammoths improve to 5-1-1 overall while the Pride drops to 1-6-0 as both teams enter a stretch of conference games.
Amherst scored quickly as they netted one less than three minutes into the game. The defense for the Pride tightened up after the goal, not allowing another for over thirty minutes.
The second goal came from Jessica Lomo who had been putting pressure on the Pride. After her initial shot was blocked, she controlled the rebound and buried one in the back of the net with ten minutes remaining in the first half.
Less than two minutes into the second half, Jessica Darling, who scored the Mammoths first goal, found Brooke Ingemi in the middle of the box who kicked one past
Mallory Forgatch (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.).
The Pride could not capitalize on any of the limited scoring chances they had as Amherst outshot Springfield by ten and led 6-1 in corner kicks. Forgatch had eight saves in the loss.
Springfield looks to bounce back on Saturday for a 1:00 pm road game against NEWMAC opponent Smith.
