Northampton, Mass. - September 27, 2025 - The Springfield College women's soccer team beat Smith, 2-1, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Pride improve to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the NEWMAC while Smith is now 1-6-1 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Avery Ford (Wethersfield, Conn.) scored the first goal of her career while
Meredith Healy (Niantic, Conn.) scored her first goal of the season.
Mallory Forgatch (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) recorded eight saves in the win.
Springfield scored just three minutes into the game when
Natalia Mottura (Scarsdale, N.Y.) took a corner kick and kicked it to the opposite post for Ford who shot it in.Â
The Bears scored the equalizer in the 36th minuted when Jenna Marsh rebounded a ball right in front of the goal and kicked it in.
With just six minutes left in the game, Healy took a shot from outside of the box and drilled it in the top of the goal, out of reach from the goalkeeper, to give the Pride the win.Â
Springfield outshot Smith 16-15 while the Bears held a 7-5 edge on corner kicks.Â
The Pride will travel to Newport, RI for a 1:00 pm matchup against Salve Regina.Â
