Worcester, Mass. - January 10, 2026 - The Springfield College men's basketball team was rolled by No. 25 WPI, 53-99, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Engineers improve to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play while the Pride drop to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in the NEWMAC. Â
Sean Harrigan (Pittsfield, Mass.) had 12 points for the Pride while RJ Hutt (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) had nine points and six rebounds. Josh Hartley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had seven points and three blocks and Rashard Samuels (Upper Marlboro, Md.) had seven points and three assists.Â
Hartley scored the first points of the game for the Pride before WPI took full control and went on 23-0 run leaving Springfield scoreless for just under six minutes. A trey from Harrigan put an end to the run, but the Engineers still dominated and led 54-18 going into the halftime break after shooting 76.9-percent (10-for-13) from three-point range and 60-percent (18-for-30) from the floor.Â
Springfield was only outscored by ten points in the second half, but despite the smaller margin, the Engineers' explosive first half led them to a big win, 53-99. WPI shot 52.2-percent (35-for-67) from the floor and 53.8-percent (14-for-26) while the Pride shot 29.3-percent (17-for-58) from the floor. The Engineers outrebounded the Pride 46-35 and scored 24 points off of Springfield's 17 turnovers.Â
