Springfield, Mass. – January 13, 2026 – Logan Murphy hit a game-tying buzzer beater in regulation and then did the same in overtime to lift Babson College over the Springfield College men's basketball team, 69-66, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Tuesday afternoon in Blake Arena.
Babson improved to 8-5 overall and to 2-2 in conference play, while Springfield dropped to 4-10, 2-3.
Josiah Evely (Toronto, Ontario) guided Springfield with 15 points, nine rebounds, two steals and three assists, while
Zachary Campbell (Philadelphia, Pa.) added 14 points and five boards and
Josh Hartley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. Thomas Ferdinando led Babson with 21 points, while Timmy O'Toole pulled down 20 rebounds to go along with nine points, three steals, three blocks and two assists.
Babson faced a 20 point deficit with 17 minutes to play in regulation, but went on to outscore Springfield by a 41-21 differential to force overtime. A jumper by Timmy Mulvey sparked Babson's run early in the stanza before he buried a jumper with 1:07 to play to pull the Beavers within three at 60-57.
Logan Murphy and Hartley traded a pair of free throws leaving the score at 62-59 with under 15 seconds left in the game, but an offensive rebound by Tyler Lauder set up the game tying basket. Mulvey fed the ball to Murphy, who drilled the three sending the NEWMAC tilt to overtime.
Springfield trailed 66-64 with under two minutes left in overtime before
Cedric Rodriguez (Burlington, Mass.)knotted the score on a jumper. Neither team was able to score over the final 90 seconds until Murphy sealed the win for Babson, 69-66, with a shot from behind the arc with 0.6 seconds left in the game.
Springfield ultimately led today's game for 39 minutes and dominated the opening 20 minutes of the game as the Pride shot at a 45.45-percent clip from the floor and hit 15 total shots for a 36-19 lead at halftime.
