Springfield, Mass. – January 6, 2026 – For the first time this season, the Springfield College women's basketball team is receiving votes in the most recent D3hoops.com National Poll that was released yesterday.

Through 12 games this year, Springfield is off to an 8-4 start and is most recently coming off an impressive 53-39 win over nationally-ranked Colby College on Friday closing the Naismith Classic in style. This marked Springfield's second ranked win of the season as the Pride also topped No. 22 Geneseo at the Chuck Resler Tournament back on November 15. The women's basketball program is the third team on Alden Street this year to appear in the national coaches polls joining football and women's volleyball.
This is the first time that Springfield has appeared in the D3hoops.com National Poll since the beginning of the 2024-25 season. Springfield is just one of two institutions from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to appear in the first poll of the calendar year joining fourth-ranked Smith College, which Springfield is set to play this coming Saturday in Blake Arena.
Statistically, Springfield is one of the best teams in the nation holding onto the ball as the Pride average just 12.3 turnovers per game, which is the fifth best mark in Division III women's basketball this season. Springfield also ranks 18th in free throw percentage at 75.7-percent and is among the best in scoring defense holding opponents to just 55.3 points per game and field goal percentage hitting shots at a 41.2-percent clip.
Springfield has a tough schedule this week to wrap up non-conference play as the Pride will welcome No. 19 Amherst College and No. 4 Smith College to Alden Street on Tuesday at 5:00 pm and Saturday at 1:00 pm, respectively.
