Springfield, Mass. – January 7, 2026 – Two days after being named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive and Defensive Athlete of the Week, Springfield College senior Amanda Leary (Westbury, N.Y.) earned national recognition from D3hoops.com and regional honors from the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA).

Leary was one of five Division III women's basketball student-athletes from across the country to earn a spot on this week's D3hoops.com National Team of the Week. This is her second career selection to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week as she was previously named to it on December 16, 2024.

Leary was also named as the NEWBA Women's Basketball Player of the Week – her second career accolade from NEWBA as she was named to the Honor Roll Second Team on January 27, 2025.

Leary was named the MVP of the 2026 Naismith Classic following victories for the Pride over Rivier and No. 25 Colby College, as she totaled 37 points (18.5 per game) and 22 rebounds (11 per game) to go along with four assists, four steals and one block in just over 50 minutes on the court. 

Leary shot at a .714 clip from the floor, burying 15 of her 21 attempts, and went 7 for 9 at the free-throw line. Leary and the Springfield defense held the nationally ranked Mules to a season-low 39 points, a season-low 15 field goals made, and a season-low 29.4 percent shooting from the floor.

Springfield, which is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com National Poll this week, sits at 9-4 this season and will welcome No. 3/4 Smith College to Blake Arena for a non-conference tilt on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
