Men's Soccer Ties With Clark, 1-1

Springfield, Mass. — October 24, 2026 — The Springfield College men's soccer program tied with Clark in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest, 1-1.

The Pride move to 5-7-3 overall and 2-3-1 in the league while the Cougars go to 3-6-6, 1-3-3.

It was an evenly matched game between both squads, seeing a lot of back-and-forth action with a lot of play at the midfield. In the 33rd minute, goalkeeper Jaime Pedraza sent a long ball down the field that Kofi Poku beat the Springfield defenders to and put it in the back of the net to take the lead.

Less than ten minutes into the second half, Evan Memoli (Barrington, RI) crossed the ball into the box which Cole Sampson (Hingham, Mass.) headed past the goalkeeper to even the score at one. Both teams had multiple chances through the rest of the half, but could not finish as they played to a 1-1 tie.

The Cougars held a 14-10 advantage in shots while Springfield held a 2-0 edge in corner kicks as the only corners came in the second half. Tommy Fenton (East Hampton, Conn.) had three saves in goal.

Springfield will head to Coast Guard on Wednesday at 6:00 pm for a NEWMAC matchup.
