Coast Guard Defeats Men's Soccer

New London, Conn. — October 28, 2026 — The Springfield College men's soccer team lost to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Coast Guard on Wednesday night, 1-0.

The Bears improve to 8-5-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the conference while the Pride drops to 5-8-3, 2-4-1. Despite the loss, Tommy Fenton (East Hampton, Conn.) had eight saves in goal.

Coast Guard got on the board quickly, scoring the lone goal in the 4th minute as Cole Miller sent a one-timer over Fenton's head off of a deflection to take the lead.

The Bears continued to control the rest of the game as they held a 21-18 advantage on shots while both teams were even at five corner kicks. Springfield's defense held strong as they did not allow another goal for the rest of the game.

Springfield will face Wheaton (Mass.), who is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, on Saturday at 1:00 pm for its final regular season game of the year.
